We are on a quest to transform the mortgage industry.
We believe there needs to be more transparency, which is one reason why we decided to share a monthly report on what we have learned, what worked and what didn’t, and what’s next in our plans to grow a Billion Dollar Brokerage.
We hope you find a few useful ideas and tidbits to help you in growing your mortgage business.

A Year of Production in a Single Month?!
December was nothing short of extraordinary!
We funded a staggering 371 files, for a total of $193,128,655—a single month’s volume that nearly matches our entire first year’s total of $208,362,228. That jump alone leaves me speechless, and proves just how powerfully the BRX model and culture resonate with our agents.
At the recent BRX National Summit, I was blown away by the caliber of people we’ve brought together. Their passion, dedication, and drive have skyrocketed our growth to levels I never imagined. It’s astounding that, in just 29 months, we’ve reached a point where we can fund in one month what once took an entire year.
And this is only the beginning!
The Billionaire Brothers You Have Probably Never Heard Of
Have you heard of the Samwer brothers?
They are three siblings from Germany, who are billionaires because they have mastered one key strategy, in which they:
copy successful US startups.
scale them aggressively in Europe, Asia, and other underserved markets.
sell them to established players or do an IPO.
For example, when the brothers saw that Groupon was growing rapidly in the US, they created CityDeal, which was eventually acquired by Groupon for hundreds of millions.
But CityDeal wasn’t just a one-off—they have done this multiple times.

They take a big idea from one area, the US startup world, and apply it in another market, usually Europe.
I share this because it highlights the power of looking outside our industry for innovative ideas.
I believe the biggest ideas that will end up transforming the mortgage industry will likely come from outside our industry.
The idea for BRX Mortgage came from observing the rapid growth of EXP Realty and Real Brokerage in the real estate industry, while watching the simultaneous slide of their 50-years-older competitor, RE/MAX.

As one of my mentors likes to remind me, “the numbers always tell a story.” The story in the market cap is that the traditional models are under fire from these new, agent-centric models.
Why are realtors choosing these new models?
Both Real Brokerage and EXP Realty are virtual brokerages, with capped commissions, stock options, and revenue share (just like we are doing at BRX).
I believe the new model appeals to the many seasoned realtors who are moving from traditional real estate brokerages for two main reasons:
Agents have no reliable retirement plan.
Agents want to own what they help build.
Here’s what I think.
Realtors—just like mortgage brokers—are well-paid salespeople. If you are good at it, you can make a lot of money in this industry. However, exiting the industry and getting paid for all the value you have created over the years is extremely difficult, as well as unreliable.
That’s why revenue share is so appealing to experienced agents. It allows them to build an additional revenue stream in the twilight years of their career.
Also, more realtors are realizing the benefit of owning a piece of the company they are helping to build.
Agents fuel their brokerage’s growth year after year, but walk away with nothing beyond their commission checks. Equity changes that, allowing them to build long-term wealth rather than just generating revenue for someone else.
This shift is why stock ownership is such a powerful recruiting and retention tool—it rewards agents for their contributions, and gives them a true stake in the business, creating value beyond their next transaction.
The model has already been proven in the real estate industry, and I believe that brokerages like BRX will continue to attract brokers who understand its value, and want to capitalize on what they help create.

We may not be as smart as the Samwer brothers, but we believe we have spotted a trend that will have a massive impact on the mortgage industry in the near future.
