How to Generate Inbound Leads From Social Media

When cars were first invented, many people thought the obvious choice was to power them by using electric batteries, not gas engines. 

Given the number of gas-powered cars that have been manufactured over the past 120 years, I know this sounds like a preposterous statement.


I share this story to point out that, when a new trend comes along, many people initially miss it. However, once a trend becomes fully adopted, most people say something to the effect of, “I always knew that would work.”


The reality is that most of us miss the big trends at first. 


Now for a confession. 


In July of this year, I will have been podcasting for 10 years. However, I have never given any energy or attention to social media.


I always felt it was more of a distraction, and wasn’t convinced that I could get business from social media, so I mostly ignored it. 


I definitely missed the trend of using social media in order to get clients. 


That was a mistake.


In January, I decided to really look at building out a plan for using social media. But because I had no idea how to do that, I found a few people who were far more advanced than me. 


I attended a mastermind in Orlando, where the speakers were experts on different forms of social media.


The sessions were great, and after listening to one speaker, who has built a 7-figure business but only posts four times a week, I left with a clear plan in mind.


I liked the simplicity of that speaker’s plan, and thought, this is something I can replicate


In February, I started implementing that strategy, and the results have been far better than I anticipated. 


I still have only a small number of followers, but the  number of leads from social media has been increasing every month. 


The best part is that they are all inbound.
