My best converting webinar had a 100% conversion rate.
Now that may seem impressive, but let me fill you in on more of the details.
I had created a webinar for a service I was offering to mortgage brokers, and I happened to schedule it right in the middle of a large, national mortgage conference.
Needless to say, that was not the best timing.
Many of my target customers were at this live conference and, having paid to be there, they were definitely not going to attend my webinar.
However, a reasonable number of people had registered for the webinar, so I thought, “I’ll just find a quiet corner in the hotel and do the webinar anyway.”
“After all,” I thought, “What’s the worst that can happen?”
Well, what happened is that only one person showed up to the webinar! (Thankfully, she couldn’t tell that there were no other participants.)
I had one lone attendee.
I almost cancelled the webinar on the spot, but decided that wouldn’t be right.
This person had shown up, and deserved to have me show up at my best as well.
I went through my entire presentation, and when it was done, she signed up for my service.
I was pumped.
This taught me two valuable lessons.
First, don’t book a webinar at the same time as a large, national event.
Second, it doesn’t matter how many show up to my webinars. What matters is that I show up, fully present and ready to serve.
In the past decade, I have presented nearly 100 webinars, and have had as many as 500 people in attendance. But I still think back on that one webinar, with one attendee, and smile. And while it would have been so easy to cancel, I am very glad I didn’t.
Webinars have generated more money for my business than any other form of content.
If you use webinars, or are thinking of using them, I have made two 12-minute podcasts, where I share a few of the tricks I have learned over the years. I hope you find them useful.
If you enjoyed these episodes, shoot me an email. I love to hear from my podcast listeners.
