How to Instantly Double the Value You Get From Any Conference

I attended a conference recently and decided to be intentional.
In the past, some of the best ideas I picked up did not come from the stage.
They came from conversations over coffee.
From sitting down at lunch.
From talking to a colleague about what was actually happening in their business.
Those conversations were pure gold.
This time, I wanted to test a theory.
With every broker I had a real conversation with, I asked one question.
“What is the best change you made to your business in the past 12 months?”
In the past, I asked questions like this randomly.
I did not appreciate the leverage of doing it on purpose.
I asked about 40 brokers. (I will record a podcast with the results.)
Every answer pointed to the same pattern.
A real problem they finally solved.
A friction point they removed.
A decision they waited too long to make and finally acted on.
Sometimes I recognize the problem immediately.
Often the solution was something I had not considered.
Here is the lesson.
When you ask better questions, the value of the conference goes up fast.
The hallway conversations were not a bonus.
They were the main event.
Try this at your next event.
